Fashion is an outward expression of what is internally going on. Call me crazy, but its true. A person’s wardrobe is a direct reflection of what sums up an individual. Outgoing, life of the party, extroverted, or introverted, quiet, prefer to go unnoticed… Casual and cozy, or break your back heels, just to make a statement that says, Im bad and I know it. Artsy and creative…simplicity… comfort… timeless and classy, trendy and edgy, you can have it all in one, or none of the above.
In a culture that is self consumed, ME ME ME, some people get turned off by fashion bloggers or outfit posts. It can portray a “look at me image” when in reality, it is a fun way of expression. It is another avenue of art. Being a pastors wife, a woman in ministry, there have been remarks made, as if you can’t enjoy Jesus and fashion at the same time. This is not every ones mentality, but it is a few. Therefore, I wanted to take time to share why I enjoy Jesus, Fashion, lifestyle blogging as a whole.
I am a hands on Momma with 2 babies 15 months a part, that keep me busy to say the least. I was a hairstylist for 5 years before I decided to stay at home once having Evie girl. I love being home with them. It is my ultimate dream to be able to spend each and every moment together, however, there are days I need an outlet. An outlet to express myself, or connect with someone other than a 11 month old and 2 year old. For me, blogging is my outlet. I type, I release, I express… I love it! Many days, its 5:00 pm and I have yet to brush my hair, get out of my robe, or even care half a second about what I look like. But on days I do decide to get dressed up, why not share this other dynamic to everyone. You can be a mom that stays in your pjs AND you can be a mom that wants to pamper yourself by simply putting on makeup and doing your hair. Whichever you choose, its ALL good. My biggest thing is “do you boo boo”… whatever makes you happy and fulfilled in life. Does dressing up, shopping fulfill me? It most def makes me happy, but at the end of the day, I have full understanding that it will all pass away one day, and what truly matters is loving God and loving people. I heard a person say once ” Make sure you are making just as many mission trips as you are mall trips..” meaning enjoy the blessings of God, but never forget what we are truly called to do… helping others, and only you know what that looks like for you.
Loving fashion does not make you materialistic. I shop at thrift shops and Forever 21. I also shop at Neiman Marcus, and Chanel every blue moon. The moment these things rule my life, is the moment I need to take a step back and re-analyze. However, this is a hobby. I have always enjoyed it from a little girl. The same way people enjoy sports, or music…traveling, I happen to enjoy fashion and blogging. Therefore, because it is something I enjoy, I like to mix it all with the things that make up Taylor : Family, Faith, Fashion.
I sometimes feel due to “religion”, we feel guilty for being simply happy and blessed. We see other things going on in the world…people who are hurting and have less than, and we neglect to enjoy the good in our own lives. I know I feel guilty at times for sure. However, God is a good God and he blesses us. So do we hide the things that we delight in, because someone else is hurting? No. The most important thing is whatever state of life you are in, never allow “things” to make or break you. If I lost everything today, that would add a dynamic of grief to me as a person, but ultimately, I am defined by my relationship in Jesus. I have Jesus. Everything else fades away… but in Him I find my peace, strength, and eternal life.
With that being said, I am a proud, Mommy, lifestyle, every day street style fashion, inspirational faith blogger.
Thank you for being a part of what I love to do.
